PLCopen Standards Accelerating Innovation and Efficiency Demonstrated at IMTS 2018
Engineering360 News Desk | August 21, 2018Software standards are essential to achieve competitive manufacturing by leveraging the benefits of Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, industrial internet of things and internet of things. For the first time, PLCopen will attend the IMTS (International Manufacturing Technology Show) at Chicago’s McCormick Place September 10-15, 2018, demonstrating the application of PLCopen software standards with a high-speed, multi-axis machine. This will illustrate the value of the application of PLCopen software standards to quickly and efficiently implement complex motion and machine control. With the growing need for specialized machines to achieve the goals of flexible and make-to-order manufacturing, it is important for engineers to have the programming flexibility provided by vendors that conform to PLCopen programming standards.
Since 1992, PLCopen vendor member companies have been committed to developing open industrial automation software standards to increase functionality while reducing engineering, training, operations and maintenance costs. PLCopen standards are valuable in a wide range of applications including large controllers and embedded devices.
PLCopen certified function blocks are only available from PLCopen member companies and are certified to perform as defined in open specifications. This ensures function and quality leading to more efficient engineering, faster start-ups and easier service.
Representatives and a live demonstration will be held in the PLCopen Booth #134549, East Building Level 3 (Lakeside).
PLCopen will hold a press conference on Tuesday, September 11, 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, Media Center room #N426.
