Wellhead chokes face multiple challenges that can reduce life, increase maintenance costs and create upsets in field operations.

IMI Critical Engineering's 100DPC-S DRAG wellhead production choke valve is designed to reduce the erosion rates often seen early in the high-pressure well life or after start-ups and increase the time between maintenance intervals. It also is supplied with several trim types.

Multi-stage drag trims are supplied for operation under extended periods of high pressure. A hybrid DRAG and cage trim addresses scenarios where high-pressure drops are experienced. And, a single-stage cage trim design provides for higher capacities when well pressures have stabilized.

IMI Critical Engineering also supplies a high Cv cage trim for declining wells or for applications where flow rates need to be optimized.

IMI’s wellhead production choke valves are supplied in a range of sizes, pressure class ratings and with several different valve actuator options. The company's engineering staff is available to aid in the valve selection process.

The 100DPC-S DRAG wellhead production chokes are configured to meet the challenges of specific production fields. Solid tungsten carbide trim options are used help reduce erosion rates and extend component life. The valves are available with a Cv range of 9 to 50; with a bare stem, manual, pneumatic or electric actuator; and in a size range of API 1 13/16 in to API 6A 4 1/16 in.
