Arca Continental, one of the world’s largest Coca-Cola bottlers, says that it will build a $250 million, 1 million-square-feet production and distribution facility in Houston, through its subsidiary Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages.

Monterrey, Mexico-based Arca is the first Latin American bottler to operate in the U.S. Coca-Cola system. It says the Houston bottling plant will be the first Coca-Cola production plant built in the U.S. in a decade.

The plant is scheduled to begin operating in early 2020, and will have five production lines, in-line blow molding, as well as distribution facilities, warehouse and sales. The plant will serve the Southeast Texas market. The company also serves Oklahoma, parts of Arkansas and New Mexico.

Through its Coca-Cola franchise, Arca operates in the northern and western parts of Mexico as well as Ecuador, Peru, the northern region of Argentina and the Southwestern U.S. Existing facilities are located in El Paso, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, McAllen, Abilene and Nacogdoches, plus two in Houston, all of which are located in Texas. Two other facilities are in Oklahoma City and Okmulgee, Okla.
