Hyundai Plans Autonomous Vehicles by 2020
Engineering360 News Desk | April 01, 2015Hyundai says it plans to have commercialized autonomous driving capabilities in some of its vehicles by 2020.
The Reuters news agency reports that the South Korean automaker are catching up with other companies such as Mercedes-Benz and General Motors, which are developing autonomous vehicles that can complete entire trips without human input.
Hyundai already has autonomous features in many models of its vehicles—like the Genesis—which can be programmed to apply the brakes when a pedestrian steps in its path.
Many industry analysts predict that self-driving cars will not appear on global markets until the early- or mid-2020s, partly due to regulatory hurdles.
