A new gas-actuated fastening tool from Simpson Strong-Tie offers high power, dual functionality and versatility for a variety of base materials and applications. The G3 is ideal for attaching light-duty fixtures such as drywall track, lath wire, furring strips, waterproofing membrane or mechanical/electrical/plumbing utilities to concrete, steel, concrete masonry units, concrete over metal deck or cold-formed steel.

The G3 offers the convenience of two tools in one — a magazine tool and a single-shot tool. As a magazine tool, the G3 can attach track, furring strips, hat channel and angle using GDP and GDPS collated pins. Users can easily convert the G3 to a single-shot tool for attaching mechanical, electrical and plumbing fixturesSource: Simpson Strong-TieSource: Simpson Strong-Tie with preassembled pins/accessories such as washer pins, ceiling clips, top hats, threaded studs, and cable or conduit clips.

Driven by 95 joules of output, the G3 features high power with consistent performance. Its 3.0-amp-hour, 7.2 V DC lithium-ion 3Ah battery delivers 8,000 shots per full charge (90 minutes) and a two-minute quick-charge allows for 200 shots. The GFC34 fuel cell powers 1,2000 shots.

The G3 includes a range of features to ensure operator efficiency, including an easy-to-load fuel-cell compartment, easily interchangeable nosepiece (black for magazine, orange for single-shot applications), an onboard LED power gauge indicator, and a durable ladder hook that’s simple to install and remove. It also includes an adjustable depth-of-drive switch for standard or reduced drive.

The tool’s 45-pin magazine with easy-to-locate orange pusher button leaves two pins remaining to ensure the tool does not discharge without pins in the magazine. The magazine’s quick-release lever allows quick removal for changing the nosepiece, clearing a jam or resetting.
