Lab refrigerators reduce waste and save energy
S. Himmelstein | September 22, 2023The loss of vaccines due to temperature control, logistics and shipment-related issues accounts for wastage of up to 50% of these products annually, according to the World Health Organization. A new line of energy-efficient refrigerators has been engineered by Thermo Fisher Scientific to address this problem.
TSG Series Laboratory and Pharmacy Refrigerators provide safe, effective storage of vaccines and other
Source: Thermo Fisher Scientific pharmaceuticals with less vaccine waste. Their design complies with NSF 456 performance standards implemented to ensure storage equipment performs as intended to preserve the viability of vaccine doses. This storage solution, manufactured at a zero-waste-to-landfill facility in Asheville, North Carolina, delivers optimum temperature performance and enhanced sample security.
The TSG Refrigerators also provide a 10% reduction in energy usage from previous models. An easy-to-use controller allows quick access to the temperature setpoint, alarm logs and settings with a bright display. The controller provides low and high-temperature, power failure and door ajar alarms as well as onboard data logging capabilities in a unit with 12-hour controller battery backup.
