New triple-offset butterfly valves’ unique design features
Diana Aoun | April 27, 2023Sipham Valves’ new triple-offset butterfly valve incorporates several unique design features to deliver a high-performance, robust and effective isolation valve solution. The valve not only provides weight and space-saving benefits, but the anti-rotational laminated seat design eliminates movement during service to maintain consistent sealing performance.
Thanks to its clever design, this new triple-offset valve delivers fast opening and closing quarter-turn operations and employs a uniform profile around the conical sealing face to achieve effective sealing. In addition, the laminated metal seat arrangements provide zero-leakage bi-directional sealing, delivering sealing performance that is in accordance with API 598.

Fugitive emissions testing has ensured that leakages through all the seals are kept to an absolute minimum, providing integrity across the entire valve range. In addition, valve service life is extended thanks to the triple-offset design, which eliminates seat wear.
Three different body types are available, including wafer-type, lug-type, and double-flanged. This triple-offset valve range design is fire-safe certified in accordance with API 607, which provides fire test criteria for quarter-turn valves with non-metallic seating, when the valves are exposed to certain fire conditions and pressure.
This valve is designed with anti-blowout features included as standard to help prevent the valve shaft from being ejected in the unlikely event of a failure when the valve is pressurized. It also boasts a compact design when compared to other metal seated isolation valves and comes with standard mounting interfaces that enable easy actuation.
The new Shipham triple-offset butterfly valve is available in different sizes and pressure classes and is ideal for applications with high temperature, severe service or isolation requirements.
