Enerpac unveiled a new addition to its torque pump family, the LU-Series Lightweight Torque Pump. The pump was designed for intermittent bolting projects, offering bolting crews speed and reliability without excess size, weight or complexity.

The solution was suited to maintenance and repair work, delivering the portability and speed bolting technicians needed while maintaining Enerpac’s durability standards for reliable field performance.

Bolting technicians often faced challenges with oversized, bulky torque pumps that were difficult to transport to hard-to-reach work areas, increasing setup time, fatigue and handling risks. Many pumps were overengineered for the task, adding unnecessary weight and complexity, while others failed to deliver their promised performance on site. This gap between equipment design and real-world applications helped drive the development of the LU-Series.

The pump’s portability stemmed from a design approach that prioritized the operator. Weighing just 41 lbs (18.8 kg) fully equipped, it could be carried by one person for safer, more predictable handling. Its compact footprint, balanced lifting points and appropriately sized reservoir simplified movement, setup and repositioning without excessive weight or awkward lifting.

The lightweight design did not compromise durability. Engineered for real-world jobsite conditions, the LU-Series underwent testing across demanding duty cycles to demonstrate long-term performance. It was tested to more than 50,000 cycles for intermittent-duty applications and designed to withstand typical impacts and accidental drops. A front shield protected critical components from potential damage on harsh industrial sites, while the pump operated reliably in temperatures ranging from -30°F to 122°F.

Beyond portability, the LU-Series incorporated features designed to improve usability. An integrated pocket kept the pendant securely docked and off the ground while remaining easily accessible. An upward-facing, angled, glycerin-filled gauge provided clear visibility from ground level, reducing the need for operators to crouch or strain. Quick-disconnect couplers, a quick-release gauge and a detachable pendant simplified servicing and calibration, helping minimize downtime and streamline operation.

Selecting appropriately sized equipment also affected efficiency and usability in bolting applications. For smaller, localized torque applications, continuous-duty, high-flow pumps were often oversized. The LU-Series offered a more compact alternative, enabling faster setup, easier transport and efficient operation without unnecessary size, weight or complexity. Its two-speed design was tailored to real-world torque-wrench duty cycles, reaching usable speed quickly to support predictable, reliable performance on the job.

Enerpac emphasized that the pump’s specifications translated into consistent on-site performance, straightforward operation and dependable results without inflated claims or hidden extras.
