Industrial valve manufacturer Severn has introduced the 8500 OCT butterfly valve — designed to meet the evolving needs of the energy sector. This valve stands out for its precise engineering and superior performance, setting a higher standard for reliability, durability and efficiency. By utilizing advanced materials and an innovative design, the 8500 OCT butterfly valve ensures excellent flow control under some of the most challenging operating conditions.

The Severn OCT Series 8500 triple offset butterfly control valves are designed to provide accurate, reliable and robust service capabilities for a wide range of applications. These valves are available in a variety of temperature ratings and can be manufactured in all commercially available metals in cast, forged or plate form. They feature a torque energized seal for low and high pressures, a self-compensating design for wear and temperature, and no internal bolting than can come loose due to vibration.

The disc is supplied hard faced as standard for improved abrasion resistance, and the valve is available with a range of low noise and anti-cavitation trims. The OCT — Laminated Seal is a traditional triple offset seal that utilizes the industry-proven graphite metallic laminate with the benefits of Severn’s OCT infinite circle geometry. The OCT — Solid Seal is used when the line media is particularly arduous, eliminating the use of graphite/polymer in the flow path while achieving leakage up to class IV. The OCT — HS is a triple offset butterfly valve that is designed to meet the precise demands of the oil and gas industry. It is particularly suitable for gas service by offering the advantages of a hybrid polymeric seal, allied with triple offset geometry and a fully anti-static design. The valve is fully serviceable in the field and offers reliable performance with bubble tight shutoff available.

The Severn OCT Series 8500 triple offset butterfly control valves are suitable for a wide range of applications, including offshore platforms and FPSOs, seawater lift pump back pressure control, ballast water flow control, hydrocarbon gas flow control, as well as a range of other applications in the oil and gas, power generation and chemical processing industries.
