Introducing the Tigron by Auma
Diana Aoun | December 07, 2020The continuously evolving world of industrial automation and digitization continues to amaze with Auma’s latest innovation being no exception. The Tigron multi-turn actuator combines Auma’s classic efficiency and intelligent design, adding state-of-the-art digitization with simple, user-friendly set-up and operation.
Perhaps Tigron's most notable feature is its explosion-proof design to cater to the stringent safety requirements of the oil and gas industry. The TIGRON is ATEX and IECEx certified for the highest hazardous gas zones — Group IIC. The actuator can cover a wide operating temperature range of -65° C to 75° C. The highest rated IP68 enclosure and Auma’s highly resistant powder coating protects effectively against the harshest environments.

Equally impressive is the digital display and user interface. The Tigron is easily setup on site without the need for additional setup tools or equipment. The commissioning assistant guides users through the setup procedure step-by-step. The clear, LED display allows valve status visibility from a distance and under varying lighting conditions.
Users can choose to have data uploaded to the Auma Cloud to facilitate predictive maintenance. Combined with low standby power consumption, the Tigron demands a lower carbon footprint and reduced operating costs. For added versatility, Auma has provided the option of separately mounted controls where valve location may pose safety issues or where vibration may be a problem. The controls can be mounted up to 100 meters away from the actuator.
The Tigron can work efficiently with a wide range of valve types. Being a multi-turn actuator, the Tigron is ideal for gate valve automation. It is available in six sizes, providing torques from 10 Nm up to 1,000 Nm. Where higher torques are required, the Tigron can be used in combination with multi-turn gearboxes. Tigron actuators can also be used with part-turn gearboxes or linear thrust units for ball, butterfly and globe valve automation.
Auma’s new Tigron showcases the highest level of versatility, robustness and cutting-edge digitization. It meets the highest safety standards of the oil and gas industry and comes with the reliability and ease-of-use for which the German manufacturer is renowned. The wide range of options available make it easy for users to customize the Tigron to meet their specific requirements under the toughest operating environments without compromising performance.
