Spotify and Ancestry.com Curate Playlists Based on DNA

In what some might call an unusual pairing, Spotify and Ancestry.com are joining forces to curate playlists for users who send in their DNA.
Once AncestryDNA test results are available, results are sent to users who can then visit Spotify to get a customized playlist based on the regions that represent users’ genetic codes.
"It’s so much more than the stats and the data and the records,” Ancestry Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Vineet Mehra said of the program. “How do we help people experience their culture and not just read about it? Music seemed like an obvious way to do that.”
Although considered by some to be a unique way for users to embrace their heritage, there are critics of the scheme as well.
One of the most outspoken critics points to Ancestry’s terms of service agreement asking users to forfeit part of their rights in terms of how the company expects to use those DNA samples in the future.
