VBMS (Papendrecht, the Netherlands) introduces a sustainable solution for fixing and sealing subsea cables in offshore structures: a hang-off that features fast (dis)assembly without the use of toxic resins.

Hang-offs for offshore wind energy systems and other applications have typically been assembled using environmentally and occupationally hazardous resins. The new resin-free hang-off provides a safe, rapid and reusable solution for demounting a cable from a monopile or jacket for replacement. The resin-free hang-off is a joint development of VBMS and UK-based Kintech Energy Ltd.

Energy company Vattenfall Vindkraft A/S has shown interest and is currently exploring the options for using the resin-free hang-off for the Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm to be installed off Denmark in 2018.
