Bosch Unveils Form-Fill-Seal Bagger for Uncoated Paper
Engineering360 News Desk | June 15, 2016Food brand owners have long benefitted from the efficiency of vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) baggers and their single operation that produces plastic bags, then fills and seals them. Bosch Packaging introduces VFFS technology for mono-material paper rather than plastic or fully-coated papers.
The machine creates, fills and seals bags made from mono-material paper rather than traditional plastic or coated paper. Instead of using polymer film, the machinery enables production of dust-tight bags for dry products such as sugar, flour, grains or powders using rolls of mono-material paper. The VFFS machine for paper features the “ZAP Module,” which Bosch says minimizes the amount of sealing agent used, helping preserve the paper`s mono-material character, especially its recyclability.
The module uses AxelloZAP, a paper developed specifically by Sweden’s BillerudKorsnäs to withstand the VFFS application.
Besides permitting use of uncoated paper for form-fill-seal, Bosch says the new system also allows for more versatile packaging styles, including pillow, gusseted and block bottom bags.
