Palsoo, a company from South Korea, has introduced its portable sterilization system that uses tap water to destroy 99.8% of airborne bacteria and viruses.

According to the company, the device, which pairs plasma activation with solar charging, could be a possible solution for sanitation in regions where electricity is scarce or in areas that commonly experience harsh conditions.

The device features a portable sterilizing sprayer along with a lithium-ion battery that can be charged via solar power.

Once users fill the device with tap water, it transforms the water into a sanitizing aerosol almost immediately that can be used to disinfect both private and public spaces.

Specifically, the company has developed the sprayer to combat airborne pathogens in agricultural practices, thereby ensuring regular sanitation in poultry, livestock and pig farms.

The developers explained that the portable sanitizing system utilizes atmospheric-pressure plasma to generate various active species, including radicals and ions, which interact with water to create plasma-activated water (PAW). This innovative solution exhibits powerful antimicrobial properties, helping to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in both humans and animals. Additionally, the treatment is effective in managing odors, adding to its versatility.

Palsoo will demonstrate the portable sterilization system at CES 2025, which is held in Las Vegas, Nevada, from January 7 to January 10, 2025.
