The freedom of green energy is limitless. And that is in both the literal and figurative sense.

Solar, wind and hydropower are abundant and clean energy sources. And once coupled with energy storage, these immense energy stores are being tapped at incredible rates. According to the U.S. EIA, in 2020, 21% of U.S. electricity was from renewable sources; it was only outpaced by natural gas (40%). And by 2023 that will fall to 34%, while renewables continue to grow.

Green energy also promises energy independence. A key consideration for nations that are reconsidering who their petroleum dollars support, and how they will grapple with energy dependence on other countries.

And in the big picture, it adds some hope to a climate change picture that grows darker by the day and is the most ominous threat of all.
