Sam’s Club, a business unit of Walmart, is preparing to roll out a new inventory analytics function that will be incorporated into the company’s existing fleet of robotic scrubbers.

The “Inventory Scan,” which was developed via a partnership with software company Brain Corp and the floor scrubber manufacturer, the Tennant Company, will be added to 600 autonomous floor scrubbers in Sam’s Clubs nationwide.

The cloud-connected Inventory Scan tower will reportedly capture data as it moves around the store and send that report to managers, offering insights about details such as accurate pricing, product stock levels and product localization.

According to the companies, the Inventory Scan is a time-saving innovation that will reduce inventory loss and the amount of time wasted with manually conducted searches of critical inventory.

Dr. Eugene Izhikevich, CEO of Brain Corp, said: “We are actively taking BrainOS-powered robots from primarily task-oriented machines, to in-store data acquisition platforms, able to deliver actionable insights on inventory availability, planogram compliance and more. This adds significant ROI for retailers.”
