New CIRCOR screw pumps designed for LACT boost service
GlobalSpec News Desk | July 20, 2026CIRCOR International has introduced the IMO LB6D series of three-screw pumps for lease automatic custody transfer (LACT) boost applications in the oil and gas industry. Designed for long-term operation in demanding field environments, the pumps are engineered to deliver reliable performance while helping reduce operating and maintenance costs.
The IMO LB6D pumps are intended to support LACT system builders and oil producers working with varying crude oil viscosities and contaminants commonly encountered in production environments. Compared with conventional gear pumps, the three-screw design provides higher boost pressures and incorporates technology that forms protective fluid films around contaminants, reducing direct wear on internal components. This design helps minimize maintenance requirements and downtime while extending service life, as demonstrated through accelerated laboratory wear testing.

The LB6D series also incorporates advanced manufacturing processes developed to increase mean time between failures and lower overall life cycle costs. The pumps feature housing bores with ceramic-like surface hardness for improved wear resistance and silicon carbide mechanical seals designed to minimize distortion and enhance durability under demanding operating conditions.
IMO pumps are available for handling a wide range of fluids with viscosities from 1.5 cSt to more than 100,000 cSt and operating temperatures from 0° F to 500° F. The pumps support flow rates ranging from 2 to 3,300 gal/min and operating pressures of up to 2,500 psig, making them suitable for a variety of oil and gas fluid transfer applications.
