Real-time supply chain visibility platform FourKites has announced its Smart Forecasted Arrival (SFA) system has been awarded a patent by the U.S. Patent Office.

The patented SFA platform offers visibility and accurate ETAs to freight while in transit even if the mode of transportation used does not feature transit location data.

Applying artificial neural networking (ANN) and machine learning (ML) technologies to a supply chain data network, SFA is capable of estimating the location of freight in transit according to other signals and data within the network, thereby providing ETAs on roughly 97% of untracked loads with an 85% rate of accuracy. Additionally, the system accurately predicts late loads more than 90% of the time.
