Digital servo drive works with a smart motor
Engineering360 News Desk | March 29, 2021Moog Animatics has launched the DS2020 digital servo drive with Combitronic capability. This single-axis drive operates a Moog CD series motor, providing high-torque capabilities for large axes of motion and other demanding applications.
Combitronic technology is an optional communications protocol that is available for the Moog Animatics SmartMotor servo and operates over a standard controller area network (CAN) interface. This is the same basic hardware used in most automobiles as well as in familiar industrial networks such as CANopen and DeviceNet.
The DS2020 Combitronic version expands the standard drive’s capabilities by allowing it to act as a follower device on the SmartMotor Combitronic network, which means the drive can be easily controlled by any SmartMotor on that network. This allows the DS2020 Combitronic drive to fit and work seamlessly with SmartMotor-based machines and applications.
