A manufacturer of construction tools has developed a semi-autonomous robot to automate the task of overhead drilling in mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) construction applications.

The remote-controlled Jaibot from Hilti uses data from building information model (BIM) software to navigate indoor spaces and to drill overhead holes for ceiling installations and other physically strenuous and repetitive tasks in the construction industry.

According to its developers, Jaibot improves worksite productivity and safety and also helps to solve labor shortages within the construction industry.

To see how the Jaibot operates, watch the accompanying video that appears courtesy of Hilti.
