Virus-killing pen created by German manufacturer
Marie Donlon | September 10, 2020A German pen manufacturer has developed what it calls the world’s first virus-killing ballpoint pen.
Encased in a plastic antimicrobial coating, the new ball point pen from Messmer, dubbed the Protect Pen, neutralizes viruses, including the coronavirus, according to its developers.
While the company has so far guarded the list of ingredients used in the making of the coating, they believe such pens would be suitable for high-traffic areas such as hospitals or clinics and at restaurants and bars where patrons are required to fill out contract tracing forms, oftentimes using the same pen.
