An online battery match service launched by the Consortium for Battery Innovation (CBI) is designed to help utility companies and other energy storage system operators select the most suitable lead battery systems as partners for their energy storage schemes.

CBI Battery Match presents systems specifiers and integrators for utility and renewable energy companies with a series of potential battery partners before linking them directly with battery manufacturers. An intelligent Source: CBIalgorithm based on battery industry expertise identifies a range of battery solutions best suited to a user’s needs in real-time.

The tool focuses on lead batteries as a technology already in use by utility and renewable energy companies for large-scale peak-shaving, frequency regulation, microgrid and off-grid system applications. CBI Battery Match will enable direct communication between an energy storage company and a battery manufacturer with a streamlined process where inputted information results in the output of a reliable, recyclable battery.

Advanced Battery Concepts, C&D Technologies, East Penn Manufacturing, Electric Applications Incorporated, EnerSys, Exide Technologies, Gridtential, NorthStar Battery and Trojan Battery Company collaborated on the development of the service.
