Source: Stauper Offshore ASStauper’s CFU is an economical water treatment solution in a small footprint designed to meet strict discharge requirements while saving space, weight and money. The highly efficient unit does not consume energy and requires minimal maintenance. It introduces gas bubbles from the bottom of the vessel, collecting oil particles and transporting them to the surface where they can be siphoned off.
Offshore Magazine reported that Equinor and COWI tested Stauper’s compact flotation unit (CFU) at the Grane field in the North Sea where it was observed to remove 99.5% of oil content from the produced water and qualified it for use at Equinor installations. Several units have also been supplied to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) for various platforms and floating production storage and offloadings (FPSOs) in the South China Sea.
CFU technology can be installed in existing or new oil-water separation vessels. It effectively removes 99.5% of oil content and discharges water with oil concentrations down to 0.2 ppm. It can be effectively installed in degassers, CFUs and oil water separators allowing operators to meet the strictest discharge requirements with minimal infrastructure changes.
