Source: GE HealthcareThe Revolution Apex CT scanner is the newest addition to the GE Revolution family of computed tomography (CT) scanners. It features a new Quantix 160 X-ray tube that, when combined with GE’s new healthcare artificial intelligence platform Edison, renders what the company calls “TrueFidelity” images.
The CT scanner provides high spatial resolution with low contrast detectability. It is complemented by a host of smart subscription services that are tailored for specific applications along with deep learning image reconstruction technology, all powered by the Edison platform.
The Revolution family of CT scanners is designed to increase the quality of care with an emphasis on dose management and diagnostic confidence. The latest Revolution scanners are compliant with NEMA XR 29-2013. The device's users can acquire high-resolution images while subjecting their patients to lower doses of radiation.
Both Edison and the Revolution Apex CT scanner were introduced at the 104th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, RSNA 2018. Deep learning image reconstruction technology has not yet received 510(k) clearance, but is marketed as a work-in-progress. It could be particularly well-suited for patients with high heart rates, high body mass indexes and those with compromised renal functions.
