In an effort to curb the amount of cyber bullying that takes place on social media, Instagram has revealed that it will begin using artificial intelligence (AI) to scan photos for abusive content

According to Instagram chief Adam Mosseri, AI will locate signs of bullying on the site and automatically flag suspicious content to undergo a staff review.

"This change will help us identify and remove significantly more bullying," Mosseri wrote in a blog post.

"It's a crucial next step since many people who experience or observe bullying don't report it."

Rolling out the AI across the social network is expected to take a few weeks.
