Design Team Introduces 'Standing Seats' for Budget Flights

Source: AvioninteriorsIn a bid to fit even more people onto budget flights, Italian aviation designer Avioninteriors has revealed its design for the Skyrider 2.0 -- airplane seats that would have passengers perch rather than sit.
Unveiled at the recent Airliners Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany, the seats, which are designed to allow for more people and less luggage in the cabin interior, are expected to face criticism at least from passengers.
This design comes on the heels of other controversial plans to maximize the space inside of airplanes with one airliner considering doing away with seats entirely, making passengers stand for the length of the flight and another scheme that would consider bar-stool-like seating for its passengers.
However, aviation authorities have not approved any of the vertical seating proposals.
I don't see that concept flying any time soon
Some issues with this, apart from the appalling cheap above everything else concept.
How are they going to handle small children? My daughter of 7 would have her feet dangle above the floor? Solvable, but questionable I would assume.
How about survive-ability during a crash? Packed like a can of sardines.
More people, evacuation in case of emergency, will be fun at the doors?
Overweight people, handicapped? Will they be charged extra for not having the ability to stand 1.5 hrs and using a normal seat? Autch...
I think the list can be an awfully longer, don't want to nag. It would be nice to see an article that handles that kind of questions, not just "hey look, another idea".
