Winery Improves Water Treatment
Engineering360 News Desk | February 12, 2017All of the wastewater produced at Napa Valley, CA-based Rombauer Vineyards will be treated onsite using EcoVolt® technology developed by Cambrian Innovation of Boston, MA.
The bioelectrically-enhanced wastewater treatment system is installed in containerized prefabricated units. Source: Cambrian InnovationThe system will generate up to 30 kW of renewable electricity and heat and enable future reuse of the winery’s fully treated process water.
The EcoVolt Reactor is a bioelectrically-enhanced wastewater treatment solution that performs high-rate, bulk BOD removal while producing high-quality biogas. The EcoVolt membrane bioreactor, an aerobic digester that removes >99% of contaminants from wastewater streams, seamlessly integrates with Cambrian’s EcoVolt Reactor controls architecture to provide fully-powered treatment.
In the future, Rombauer will have the option to add additional EcoVolt modules to treat increased wastewater flows should the winery increase production.
