Blow-molding prototype tooling has been introduced to help manufacturers evaluate performance of PET resins when colorants or barrier property chemicals are added.

The company says the tooling can reduce risks from creating new shapes from a resin masterbatch, since the new shape might introduce cosmetic flaws or undesirable physical properties.

The tooling produces 12-oz. round containers with a long neck and curved sides, reflecting current trends for liquor bottles. The mold complements the company’s tooling that produces flask-shaped bottles, which have declined in popularity.
