Photo by: Metal Forms Corp.Construction of the new All Board Florida passenger-rail monorail service at the Orlando International Airport requires 8,000 ft of platforms that support a total of four tracks. The concrete tracks or rails, however, vary in height from nine to 16 in. due to deviations in base height. While traditional concrete construction methods might require contractors to make time consuming separate pours, each utilizing a different sized form, an adjustable concrete form from the US-based Metal Forms Corporation allows workers to pour level rails in a single pour despite varying concrete depths.
The new forms are custom fabricated with an adjustable front skin that can be lowered or raised to reach specified heights. The form ends contain sliding tracks that maintain their alignment even while being adjusted. Available in 10 ft lengths and five ft corner/radius lengths, the 10 gauge steel forms are easily disassembled and transportable.
