Torque wrench streamlines wind turbine tasks
S. Himmelstein | June 11, 2024Wind turbine assembly and maintenance are set to be simplified with a new battery-powered torque wrench from industrial tools developer Enerpac. The BTW-series battery torque wrench enables operators to quickly move between bolting jobs while assuring torquing precision.
The 10 lb tool is equipped with an integrated digital motor vectoring system that delivers accurate and repeatable torque up to 6,000 ft-lbs. Available for ¾ inch to 1.5 inch square drive sizes, the BTW-series torque wrench can be deployed in most bolting scenarios.
Instead of requiring multiple operators in addition to air or electric-powered hydraulic pumps, hoses and torque wrenches, the BTW-series requires just a single operator. These torque wrenches achieve a +/- 5% accuracy across their entire operational range and are equipped with anti-slip pistol grips and triggers for sturdy control and operator comfort. A low maintenance brushless motor runs cooler and maximizes productivity, and smooth and consistent torque is provided by a patented planetary gear with optimum tooth design.
The BTW-series is powered by two Enerpac 18 V 5.5 Ah lithium-ion batteries and a 60-minute fast-charger, enabling high-efficiency brushless motor bolting applications, even in remote or hard-to-reach areas.
