MOTIACT mechatronic grippers offer flexibility and precision
GlobalSpec News Desk | August 18, 2026SMW Autoblok will be featuring the MOTIACT series of mechatronic grippers at IMTS 2026. The MOTIACT mechatronic gripper series is the ideal solution for performing precise, consistent and accurately monitored gripping operations for moving parts, pallets and chucks in and out of CNC machines and automated work cells.
These top-tier grippers are equipped with an incremental measuring system to guarantee gripping pressure, linear positioning and speed control as standard features. All models feature a Profinet or I/O link interface to ensure seamless integration into existing systems.
There are four series of MOTIACT grippers featuring a range of sizes and gripping forces:

● MX-S (Small Parts): 3 mm/6 mm/8 mm strokes per jaw and gripping force of 40 N/150 N/250 N. Ideal for cobot applications, pick-and-place tasks and handling delicate or smaller workpieces.
● MX-M (Universal): 8 mm/13 mm strokes per jaw and gripping force of 1,200 N/1,800 N. Well suited for machine tending applications, with a substantial weight capacity and gripping force to accommodate various workpieces.
● MX-U (Universal): 55 mm strokes per jaw and gripping force of 300 N. Designed for a larger range of products, part families, delicate parts and medical applications where parts must be handled carefully.
● MX-L (Long-Stroke): 55 mm/99 mm jaw strokes per jaw and gripping force of 27,000 N/40,000 N. With a maximum weight capacity of up to 200 kg, these robust, larger jaw stroke grippers are the highest capacity standard grippers on the market and are built for larger part applications.
MOTIACT grippers can be paired with SMW's optional contactless inductive coupling system, eliminating cables while supporting full 360° continuous rotation of the end-of-arm tooling (EOAT). These grippers are rated up to IP67 for high durability in any environment.
Designed to be self-locking, MOTIACT grippers maintain their gripping force and position mechanically even if there is an unexpected power failure. Equipped with absolute or incremental measurement systems, the grippers allow constant monitoring and adjustment of jaw positions.
SMW Autoblok will be exhibiting at IMTS 2026, September 14 through September 19, in the West Hall in Booth 431617 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.
