Armed drone achieves perfect accuracy in Chinese military tests
Marie Donlon | February 20, 2026A new special-ops drone capable of firing a standard infantry assault rifle with perfect accuracy in controlled live-fire trials has been developed by teams from Wuhan Guide Infrared and the Chinese military’s Army Special Operations Academy.
During live fire trials, the experimental weaponized drone hovered roughly 33 ft above the ground and engaged a target located 328 ft away. Additionally, the drone fired 20 single shots, striking the target — which was a human-sized silhouette featuring a 20 inch by 20 inch chest board — every time.

Specifically, of the 20 rounds that hit the target, 10 landed within about 4.3 inches of the center. Meanwhile, at a shorter distance of 164 ft, the system hit the target 19 out of 20 times, with the team explaining that the single miss was not a system error, but a manufacturing defect in the ammunition.
As such, the team explained that the system achieved a 100% hit rate while operating in flight
For now, however, the current platform is limited to single-shot firing and is unable to support sustained or automatic bursts, which could reduce its effectiveness in fast-moving or high-density combat scenarios, the team concluded.
