A new portable, space-saving bench system has been designed for accurate measurement of friction pressure in slick water fracturing fluids. The instrument from Chandler Engineering analyzes the performance of friction reducers in fracturing fluids over a wide range of pressures and pipe diameters.

The 6700-M Mini-Loop benchtop system features a low shear, progressive cavity pump for circulation of baseSource: Chandler EngineeringSource: Chandler Engineering fluids and delivers real time temperature, differential pressure and friction data in oil, gas and geothermal well applications. With its low-volume fluid requirements, the tool is suitable for quality control testing and enables fast, repeatable assessments of fluid performance.

Proprietary software records and analyzes test data, supporting rapid test turn-around for the repeat testing of stimulation fluids. The friction reducing agent under test is added directly into a five gallon reservoir mixing tank.

Its deployment can allow engineers to validate friction-reducing systems during research and development phases before scaling up to full-size loop testing.
