Team develops AI-enhanced human washing machine
Marie Donlon | December 02, 2024Dubbed the “Mirai Ningen Sentakuki” or “Future Human Washing Machine,” the upgraded device will soon make its debut at the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion.
Its developers explained that unlike its predecessor, which was an egg-shaped pod that automatically filled with hot water and used ultrasound waves and deployed massage balls to knead users’ bodies, the new iteration of human washing machine now resembles the cockpit of a jet fighter.
Featuring a transparent cover that opens with a pivoting motion, users can seat themselves in the ergonomically designed center and are immersed in warm water that partially fills the chamber. While inside, embedded sensors monitor vital signs including pulse rate, which allows for precise temperature adjustments to ensure a gentle and secure washing experience, its developers explained.
Meanwhile, an integrated artificial intelligence (AI) system assesses each user’s emotional state and projects customized visual displays onto the transparent cover’s interior, thereby enhancing the experience.
All told, the process, which includes washing and drying, can be completed in just 15 minutes.
