VMI’s new 20 kV optocouplers, the OC200G and OC200HG, are ideal for high voltage solid-state switching. VMI optocouplers are built for reliability, offering high voltage, high gain and high isolation voltage in a small footprint.

The VMI high voltage optocoupler family can be used in a push-pull configuration for driving strictly capacitive loads or very high resistive impedance loads. Low capacitance loads can be driven at relatively high speeds, while large capacitance loads can be slowly charged to a desired voltage. Typical applications include high voltage biasing or switching of:

  • Pockels cells
  • Electrostatic plates for steering electron beams
  • Photo-multiplier tubes
  • High voltage piezo-electric devices

The OC200 line of optocouplers can easily be configured in circuitry to perform applications such as:

  • High voltage linear regulators
  • High voltage bi-polar supplies (positive/negative switching)
  • High voltage op-amp
  • Solid state variable load simulation

The high-reliability and flexibility of these series make them well suited for a variety of industries including:

Available in a clear molded package, VMI’s 20 kV version optocouplers are fabricated with two infrared LEDs. All optocouplers are rated for 25 kV isolation voltage between the LEDs and the high voltage diode.
