RealWear debuts explosion-proof smart glasses

Earning an Intrinsically Safe (IS) certification, RealWear Navigator Z1 smart glasses were developed in conjunction with i.safe MOBILE, a technology expert in IS product development, thereby ensuring that the device meets stringent safety standards — for example, thermal and electrical integrity, mechanical durability, safety compliance and explosion-proof capabilities.

Specifically, Navigator Z1 reportedly will not cause explosions in environments where it would encounter flammable particulates, such as the oil and gas industry.
According to the company, the Navigator Z1 smart glasses are powered by the advanced Qualcomm SnapDragon 6490 chipset, featuring a built-in artificial intelligence (AI) engine that enables AI Core vision for frontline workers.
Further, Navigator Z1 has also earned ATEX and IECEx certifications and its voice recognition feature allows for fully hands-free operation in environments with up to 100 dBA noise levels.
