A robot that re-creates human painted artwork
Marie Donlon | September 19, 2023Canadian startup Acrylic Robotics has created a robot that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to reproduce existing artwork at scale.
The AI-powered robots use a combination of machine learning and neural networks to create the reproduced artwork.

This, according to its developers, is because the machines are able to identify patterns and gain knowledge from their own work to create the reproductions. Further, a built-in digital system lets painters track the placement of each brushstroke.
Although the finished products are close replicas of original works, there are reportedly imperfections in the replicas. This is encouraged because Acrylic Robotics suggests that although each replica should look as similar as possible to the original, potential customers might be willing to spend more for it because the imperfections imply authenticity versus something that was mass produced.
