High-speed robotic parcel sorting system introduced by Ambi Robotics
Marie Donlon | July 25, 2023A developer of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered robotic parcel sorting systems has introduced its modular parcel induction and sorting solution for the shipping logistics market.
Ambi Robotics has introduced its AmbiSort B-Series designed to automate the tasks of inducting and sorting parcels into gaylord destinations, and thus automating the labor-intensive manual sorting of supply chain operations.
The AmbiSort B-Series is reportedly capable of executing end-to-end sorting tasks as well as induction, item manipulation and accurate placement.
Further, AmbiSort B-Series can also be tailored for tasks that require reverse logistics, induction only, sort to carrier, zone skipping and final-mile sortation. Likewise, AmbiSort B can also be used for conveyor and AI vision systems exclusively.
According to its developers, the AmbiSort B-Series, which is powered by simulation-to-reality (Sim2Real) AI, has demonstrated throughput that reportedly exceeds 1,200 parcels sorted per hour.
To accomplish this, the AmbiSort B-Series uses multiple robot arms simultaneously to sort parcels from bulk unstructured input bins into gaylord destinations and offers complete sortation process automation, which includes induction, grasping, six-side scan tunnel, quality control and accurate placement into output locations.
With reported accuracy rates of more than 99.5%, the AmbiSort B-Series is capable of handling a range of package types including polybags, boxes and flats.
