Calpeda introduces high performance dirty water drainage pump
Diana Aoun | April 25, 2023Italian pump manufacturer Calpeda recently added the GQV 65 submersible dirty water drainage pump to its GQV series — the company’s submersible sewage and drainage pump range. Although this latest offering from Calpeda follows the same logic and construction principles of its predecessors, the new GQV 65 has been specially designed and built to allow the management of suspended solids with a diameter of up to 65 mm (2.6 inches), making it ideal for industrial applications.
Suspended solids management is an important aspect of dirty water pumping, meaning it is essential that the pump is both reliable and capable of efficiently moving the liquid without getting clogged. The GQV 65 is equipped with a vortex impeller, which is designed so that the solid particles pass below the impeller itself, which prevents blocking.

In addition, the incorporation of a vent valve allows the escape of air around the impeller, thereby enabling exceptional priming even after extended periods of idleness. The pump is equipped, as standard, with a double mechanical seal on a stainless-steel shaft with an oil chamber interposed for protection of both the engine and against accidental dry running.
To facilitate quick installation in the sump, the pump has a DN 65 delivery flange and is suitable for coupling chutes. Equipped with a high-performance motor with a stainless-steel casing, the GQV 65 is much lighter than other conventional cast iron pumps on the market for this type of application.
The larger pump body enables the passage of suspended solids with a diameter of up to 65 mm, therefore guaranteeing a greater free passage and flow rate than its predecessors, for the same power. The GQV 65 pump is currently available in 1.1 kW and 1.5 kW power versions and can deliver flows of up to 42 m3/h (185 U.S. gpm) and a maximum head of 11 m (36 ft).
