Ammann, a supplier of mixing plants, machines and services for the construction industry, has introduced its new ART 240 StV pneumatic-tired rollers, which are said to meet the world’s strictest emissions standards while excelling in soil and asphalt applications.

According to its developers, the rollers offer high productivity and are suited to applications such as motorways, railways, airfields, industrial zones and residential areas. They are powered by EU Stage V/US EPA Tier 4f engines from Deutz with EGR, DOC, SCR and DPF technology for the lowest emissions.

The compactors are versatile, with a ballasting system that offers weights ranging from 9 tons up to 24 tons. Additional ballasting blocks are easy to add to the bottom of the machine frame via forklift. Machine weight can also be increased by adding ballasting materials such as sand, metal scraps, concrete or water inside the machine frame. The total available ballasting space is 3.7 cubic meters.

Front pairs of wheels are connected using an isostatic system that allows movement of +/- 50 mm. The front-axle solution combines +/- 3° wheel oscillation and constant tire contact, even in difficult terrain, while the air-on-the-run system allows tire pressure control from the cab.

Intuitive controls simplify handling and operation. The cab, with its two working stations, is spacious and offers optimal visibility — with operator sight lines to the entire jobsite as well as the working areas to the front and rear of the machine.

A maintenance-friendly design with ground-level access to the main drain ports and no tools needed for daily inspections, helps to minimize downtime.
