A spider-like robot developed by Japan-based robot manufacturer Tmsuk is able to perform in-pipe inspections autonomously.

The robot, dubbed SPD1, is a multi-legged inspection bot that is operated via video game controller. Outfitted with a 360° camera, SPD1 can navigate and inspect pipes of various diameters and overcome obstacles encountered within the pipes.

Further, the SPD1 can be used individually or operated in swarms to perform pipe inspections.
