Remote tracking system developed for oil and gas sitesMarie Donlon | June 17, 2022
Sensaphone, a manufacturer of remote environmental monitoring systems and early detection products has developed a new satellite-based monitoring system to monitor remote oil and gas sites in the absence of cellular, internet and phone service.
The SAT4D satellite-based monitoring system from Sensaphone remotely monitors wells, refineries and storage facilities 24/7 for assorted conditions including tank floats, pump status, security, power failure and equipment malfunction.
If any of these conditions are detected — which is usually indicated when a sensor falls out of a pre-set range — an alert is sent to various stakeholders, thereby protecting assets and preventing downtime.
According to Sensaphone, the SAT4D technology is self-powered and is able to operate for more than three years on its replaceable battery. Likewise, it can perform in temperatures that range from -22° F to 140° F and GPS technology offers the location of the monitored equipment.
