An elevator manufacturer has developed technology for killing and preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus in elevator cabs.

As more and more people return to work — particularly in large buildings with elevators — amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Bronx-based CEC Elevator Cab Corp developed the Sterilyft technology to kill the virus and thus prevent its spread using a three-pronged approach.

Sterilyft is an elevator air filtration/sterilization system that treats enclosed elevator cabs to a combination of ultraviolet light (UV-C) to kill off pathogens followed by air filtration via MERV-13 filtering and the recirculation of purified air via a semi-closed loop system.

Already in locations throughout the U.S., CEC Elevator Cab Corp envisions using the technology for air travel, classrooms, mass transportation and other enclosed space applications.
