Germany-based Thyssenkrupp Elevator is planning to build a new headquarters building near The Battery Atlanta in Cobb County, Georgia.
The complex will house more than 900 full-time employees and include three facilities anchored by a 420-foot (128-meter)-tall elevator qualification and test tower.
Completion of the complex is expected by early 2022.
With 18 shafts, the tower can be used to test new concepts and product pilots, including high-speed elevators, the two-cabins-per-shaft elevator system, as well as a rope-less and sideways-moving elevator system, called MULTI. In addition, the tower will also be used to conduct safety requirements on standard elevators.
The twin elevator system features two cars arranged on top of each other operating independently in a single shaft. The technology is being installed in the Coda Building at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta with completion expected early in 2019.
