Spirax Sarco, a steam system engineering and management specialist, has expanded its product line to include the Clean Steam Generator (CSG) for Healthcare. This new system produces sterile steam and reduces the risk of wet packs, and is designed to help users resolve a well-known industry problem and provide medical facilities with a packaged solution to help minimize risks associated with poor sterilization, allowing them to consistently Source: Spirax SarcoSource: Spirax Sarcoand reliably meet strict steam quality standards.

A unique testing plan ensures that the new design consistently exceeds required standards in steam dryness. The CSG has been rigorously tested to diagnose issues and maintain compliance under operational conditions. As a result, the quality of steam meets all the latest requirements, including a dryness factor higher than AAMI ST79 throughout the entire sterilization cycle.

Wet packs can occur as a result of poor temperature and pressure control, non-condensable gases (NCGs), overloading sterilizers or poor steam dryness, which causes regular maintenance routines and reprocessing if the problems are not addressed and rectified. The new CSG design has been developed around a series of identified needs captured from 95 interviews across 15 countries with industry experts. The packaged solution will deliver repeatable high-quality dry steam (exceeding the minimum value of 97% during any part of the sterilization process) and offers customizable options to fit operational needs while ensuring the new inbuilt intelligence allows easy access and visibility of system operation.
