Companies to jointly develop construction robots
Marie Donlon | July 23, 2020A South Korea-based industrial robotics company and a construction company have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop robots for the construction industry.
The MoU, dubbed the “Joint R&D of Construction Robotics Technology,” was signed by Hyundai Robotics and Hyundai Engineering and Construction (E&C), with the joint goal of developing robots capable of drilling, painting, bricklaying and welding on construction sites.
According to the MoU, Hyundai Robotics will be responsible for cooperative robot and vision technology (for instance, camera image analysis) while Hyundai E&C will be responsible for motion control for construction.
The companies also expect to jointly develop “Autonomous Integrated Software” and they will also explore designing robots capable of providing courier services to occupants of the completed office and apartment buildings.
Now we know that drillers, painters, bricklayers and welders won't be occupying any of those apartments.
