Engineering firms tapped for new Toronto subway
David Wagman | March 02, 2020Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx awarded a consortium of engineering firms to serve as technical adviser for the roughly C$10.9 billion ($8.16 billion) Ontario Line in Toronto.
The nearly 16-kilometer-long subway line would include 15 proposed stations and would extend from Ontario Place/Exhibition Place through downtown Toronto to the Ontario Science Centre.
When complete, the new line is planned to handle nearly 400,000 daily boardings. It is expected to deliver up to 40 trains per hour, as frequently as every 90 seconds. The consortium includes HDR and its primary partners, including Mott MacDonald, Stantec, Systra and Comtech. The group will provide a wide range of planning, engineering, environmental, design and construction oversight services.
