UK startup proposes Hyperloop-like system for delivering goods
Marie Donlon | January 15, 2020A U.K. transportation startup is proposing a Hyperloop-like delivery system for transporting packages throughout England in a bid to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to expedite delivery times.
Magway is currently conducting a crowdfunding initiative on Crowdcube to bring to life its proposal for delivering goods across England via a network of small underground tubes and delivery pods.
According to the company, the less than 3 ft diameter pods will be powered by electromagnetic waves produced by the pod's magnetic motors and will travel at speeds of roughly 30 mph, transporting goods through tubes from distribution hubs to consolidation centers.
The company aims to be responsible for the delivery of roughly 90% of all online orders in England once the system is operational. Likewise, the company believes that the Hyperloop-like system will reduce the greenhouse gas emissions emitted by traditional modes of shipping, such as planes, ships, trucks and trains.
With similarities to the Hyperloop, a proposed mode of transportation that moves people through a network of underground tubes using a vacuum tube train (or vactrain), which was originally proposed by Tesla and SpaceX, the Magway system still has a few more days for interested parties to invest through its Crowdcube crowdfunding initiative.

Sounds expensive.
Yeah, it's springtime in the UK.
