With the innovative Schleifring Configurator, engineers and designers can quickly and cheaply define the ideal slip ring solution from the Modular Industrial Application (MIA) series. The MIA modular system offers two basic components and a wide range of selectable power groups, inter alia for power and signal transmission, Ethernet and bus components, and media rotary joints as well as flanges. These make it possible to configure slip rings with up to 102 paths and for 630 V (AC).

The configuration tool checks whether the desired functionality can be implemented in a specified installation space while entering requirements. Once the slip ring has been successfully configured, the corresponding CAD data (step file) as well as a PDF document are available for download immediately, and the slip ring itself is ready for shipping within just a few days.

“The slip rings defined using the configurator provide the ideal solution for all customer requirements that cannot be fulfilled by a standard range but for which a customized development would be too expensive,” said managing director Dr. Stefan Heun. “Slip rings made up of MIA components are more quickly available and cheaper than custom-built designs; however, they are just as robust, resilient and reliable.”

The company said that all components are manufactured out of reliable and field-proven materials according to the highest standards; for example, the relevant contact rings and the contact wires are gold-plated and operate flawlessly up to 50 million rotations.
