Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH’s Gen 4 unit hydrogen fuel cell stacks are available in two formats with a nominal capacity range of 3.0 kW up to 25.6 kW. The core component of the stack includes bipolar plates, a gas diffusion layer (GDL) and a membrane electrode assembly (MEA), which are manufactured specifically for their proton motor according to internal specifications. Performance is assured through extensive testing both in-house as well as at external research facilities.

The manufacturing robot assisting in the production of Proton’s fuel cell stacks was financed by the European Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) agency through the Future European Fuel Cell Technology: Fit for Automatic Manufacturing and Assembly (Fit-4-AMandA) project.

Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH is an industry partner with more than 18 years’ experience in manufacturing PEM fuel cell stacks, The company is engaged in this opportunity as automated stack production is considered a requirement in addressing the gap between its current production capacity and that of the growing market demand. They are also planning to modify machine layout to support an annual production capacity of up to 30,000 fuel cell stack modules.
